Surgery in the Tropics

چکیده
The spectrum of surgical care in the tropics varies from excellent to almost non-existent. The majority of the tropical countries, being developing countries, share the common phenomenon of scarce surgical resources both in terms of personnel and medical equipment. The estimated number of surgeons per 100,000 populations is only 7 for Colombia; 1.5 for the Philippines; 0.5 for West Africa and only one surgeon for every 180,000 people in Papua New Guinea

Generation mean analysis was carried out to estimate the nature andmagnitude of gene effects for sugar yield and its component traits in sweet sorghum[Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench. Six basic generations, namely P1, P2, F1, F2,BC1P1, BC1P2 of four crosses involving seven diverse parents were evaluated inrainy 2009. متن کاملZinc, boron and sulphur deficiencies are holding back the potential of rainfed crops in semi-arid India: Experiences from participatory watershed management
Little attention has been paid to the diagnosis of deficiencies of micronutrients such as zinc (Zn) and boron (B) and secondary nutrient such as sulphur (S) in rainfed systems. We evaluated Zn, B and S status of 1617 farmers’ fields in 14 districts of the semi-arid tropical India. Results showed that most of the soil samples were low to medium in organic carbon contents. Results also revealed t...
